Irish Studies 1 explores some of the most important themes and historical events in the study of how contemporary Ireland and Irish identity developed. To this end, we will study topics related to the history and geography of Ireland, as well as aspects of Irish culture such as the Irish language, music, poetry and literature, storytelling, mythology, and religion.
Irish Studies aims to give students:
- an insight into notable events in the history of Ireland
- a knowledge of the chronology of significant events in Irish history.
- an appreciation of notable aspects of culture in Ireland.
