The course Introduction to History and Theories of International Relations focuses on a current debate in the historiography of IR. The course has two parts. The first part focused on the impact of imperialism, colonialism, social Darwinism and racism on the development of IR. At the same time, it addresses the myths that exist in the teachings of the history of IR. The second part looks at 3 dominant theories of IR - realism, liberalism and social constructivism.

The aim of the course is for students to learn how to use different concepts included in theories as analytical tools through discursive methods. The compulsory reading includes papers that provide different perspectives on specific concepts, such as power, sovereignty, nationalism, and liberal order.
